The Experimental & Computational Physics Group is seeking a Devices & Sensors engineer to enable groundbreaking new technologies for government applications! You will work with a growing, multidisciplinary team to craft, build, characterize, and evaluate methods for sophisticated sensing and computing modalities.
As a Devices & Sensors Engineer, your primary responsibility will be developing methods for fabricating electronic and optoelectronic systems for emerging applications. Additionally, you will...
- Craft experiments, collect data, and report findings to internal technical teams.
- Support existing programs through day-to-day operations of various cryogenic systems and experiments.
- Share high-quality ideas and insights into existing problems, leading to novel solutions adaptable to APL and sponsor needs.
- Collaborate with fellow researchers and engineers to develop innovative device or system prototypes
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you…
- Hold a Masters' Degree in Materials Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Have 5+ years of experience developing or evaluating devices, sensors, or systems thereof.
- Have a strong desire to work in an interdisciplinary, applied science environment.
- Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. - Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI+polygraph level clearance. - Are familiar with printed electronics technologies and materials, optical materials and waveguide characterization methods, and/or the design tools and production processes used in the fabrication and packaging of microelectronics
- Have experience using, designing, building, servicing cryogenic equipment including dilution refrigerators
- Have data analysis experience
- Feel comfortable coding in python coding, either for experiment/characterization automation or data analysis
- Have experience modeling physical systems, both with either commercial packages or custom-built code
- Hold an active TS/SCI+poly security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
