$46 .00 - $76.00 / Posted Thru: 12-10-23
Part-time / 25-29 Hours Per Week

 

 
Location: Remote/Virtual – Must Live in Michigan

 

 
Purpose: This position will function as a Senior Nurse Advisor to the Office of Nursing Programs: Nursing Safety and Workforce Planning (ONP) within the Policy and Planning Division of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of adequately prepared direct care nurses, nursing faculty, and nursing educational programs and promoting safety in nursing workplaces. This position is responsible for advising on new and existing programs, developing auxiliary materials to support efforts, promoting incorporation of stakeholder feedback, and maintaining positive/productive relationships with customers and stakeholders.

 

 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the work of the Office of Nursing Programs: Nursing Safety and Workforce Planning.
  • Advise on daily operations, strategic planning, and promotion.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance.
  • Assist with various activities such as data analysis, creating reports and surveys, drafting correspondence, and developing presentations.
  • Develop and recommend alternative strategies to address and resolve a variety of programmatic issues.
  • Evaluate documents and other materials for possible improvements; determine compatibility with office objectives and priorities.
  • Develop and assess policies, procedures, and programmatic efforts.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary planning meetings and formulate resulting recommendations.
  • Conduct research and analysis.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 
 
Qualifications/Requirements:

 

 
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing. Preference given for possession of a master's degree or higher in nursing.

 

 
Experience: A minimum of ten years professional experience in paid positions of nursing clinical specialization or academia.

 

 
Important Skills and Characteristics:
  • Thorough knowledge of current literature, policies, technology, and innovation in the field.
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate a variety of data for use in program development and analysis.
  • Ability to organize and present information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well with others on a team, work independently, and multi-task within tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to learn and utilize computer processes.

 

 
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: This position requires: use of a laptop, occasional transport of laptop and written materials, and limited travel.

 

 
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.

 

 
IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position helps administer programs and complete assignments in the Office of Nursing Programs: Nursing Safety and Workforce Planning.
