The School of Global Affairs is a vibrant hub of multi-disciplinary scholarship that seeks to address and resolve the most pressing issues facing our world today. By drawing together a unique cohort of scholars, our School covers expertise in global environmental governance, climate change, global health, cross-border migration, emerging economies and politics. We're comprised of the Departments of Geography, International Development and Global Health & Social Medicine, the African Leadership Centre and the Global Institutes (Lau China, India, Brazil and Menzies Australia).

About the Role

We're seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join us as Deputy School Business Manager, where you'll play a pivotal role in driving our mission forward.

As Deputy School Business Manager, you'll be at the heart of our operations, overseeing the smooth functioning of our School, which comprises 8 diverse academic units. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, excel at managing large budgets, and have a knack for supporting HR processes, then this role is tailor-made for you.

The School of Global Affairs has a hybrid way of working where staff are expected to work in the office for a certain number of days each week, the number depending on the role. Each team also has a regular anchor day when all team members are expected to be in the office.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

 

Essential criteria

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant work experience
  2. Excellent knowledge of (university) policies and procedures including financial regulations.
  3. Proven ability in managing multiple large and complex budgets.
  4. Demonstrable project management skills
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation
  6. Experience and comprehensive understanding of HR processes and procedures
  7. Experience of space management including commissioning minor works
  8. Emerging experience of line managing others

 

Desirable criteria

  1. Relevant qualification in Business Management
  2. Demonstrable experience of strategic planning and policy development
  3. Experience of managing and leading change
