- A Bachelor’s Degree and five years of fundraising experience, including experience with charitable giving.
- Demonstrated experience closing five- and six-figure gifts and working effectively with a diverse group of staff, donors, and volunteers at various levels of engagement.
- Proven success demonstrating the ability to innovate and think creatively regarding gift strategies.
- Proven success soliciting face-to-face gifts from individuals and business/corporate representatives and managing long-term relationships with high level donors and prospects.
- Willingness and availability to travel 50% of the time to cultivate and solicit gifts—mainly day trips within the New England area.
- Demonstrated effective communication and persuasion skills, as well as organization, planning, analytic, and problem resolution abilities.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, including the ability to set clear priorities and manage time well.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound judgments about prospects and all other areas of performance without close day-to-day supervision.
- Proven knowledge of best and established practices in advancement.
- Demonstrated skill with prospect management, proposal writing, and presenting cases for support.
- Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, and work collaboratively with diverse constituencies including students, faculty, staff, administrators and community partners.

- Manage a portfolio of 100-150 major gift prospects, defined at Keene State as $25K+. Most of these prospects are New England-based. Note: some of the prospects in portfolio are currently leadership annual donors.
- Raise a minimum of 3-5x annual salary each year and meet agreed upon activity-based goals.
- Cultivate person-to-person relationships and articulate in a persuasive manner the vision and priorities of the College, and match those to the interests of prospective donors.
- Write proposals and other donor communications, with support as needed from others on the team.
- Instill a culture of philanthropy among KSC’s alumni.
- Leverage Raiser’s Edge to track activity and moves management.
- Exercise discretion at all times and keep confidential all data related to KSC and its alumni.
Duty/Responsibility
- Participate in campaign prospect strategy sessions in support of KSC’s $20M comprehensive campaign.
- Identify new major gift prospects and, in partnership with others on the team, implement and manage a qualification process to move donors up the pipeline.
- Foster high levels of cooperation between Advancement and other college departments, and help to shape fundraising opportunities based on donor interests and college priorities.
Duty/Responsibility
- Represent the Advancement Department on internal and external committees and events as appropriate.
- Cultivate trust and credibility with colleagues, and support Advancement and Alumni department events as needed.
- As appropriate, offer input into fundraising-related marketing and communication efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
