Job Roles
  • Actively monitors and manages own schedule. Confirms appointments and fills empty slots; keeps schedule full. When conducting home visits, plan effectively for efficient use of time and resources.
  • Completes all required documentation accurately, promptly, and thoroughly by department standards; in addition, documentation complies with patients' insurance requirements.
  • May provide treatment at off-clinic sites, i.e., at other agencies or the family's home. When providing home visitation, responsibilities also include assisting with scheduling home visits, maintaining regular communication and sharing information with parents/caregivers; modeling (for the parents/caregivers) stimulation and intervention techniques; monitoring child and family progress in the home; and assessing the home environment.
  • Provides developmental screenings and/or curricular-based assessments to patients, to establish basal skills and monitor progress.
  • Provides treatment/occupational therapy one-on-one or in a group setting to patients, according to the treatment plan developed by the Occupational Therapist. Meets department productivity goals.
  • Works effectively as a member of the treatment team. Consults with OT and other team members assists OT in monitoring patient progress, participates in case conferencing meetings and IFSP meetings, and participates in program planning meetings. Participates, and may assist in providing, presentations for staff and patients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • California State licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate Degree.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed promptly within San Diego County. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Requires an active Class C California driver's license, and proof of liability insurance at $100,000, on a vehicle used. No more than 2 points in the past 12 months; No suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years.


Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

  • Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
  • Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.
  • Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation, obtaining background information and reports on patients, following up on appointments, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of key Occupational Therapy concepts sufficient to understand and implement treatment plans provided by a licensed OT
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients and family members who speak English as a second language.
  • Knowledge of cognitive, emotional, and social development and/or deficits in clients of all ages and disorders.
  • Knowledge of developmental occupational therapy theory and fine motor, sensory, and feeding disorders (etiologies and effects).
  • Knowledge of therapy techniques and their applications to various disorders, ages, and personalities.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish are preferred.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

$27.00 - $34.50

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
