In order to be considered for this position, you must be a current, undergraduate UM-Flint student, or a previous undergraduate UM-Flint student who has attended UM-Flint within the past six months, and apply online at www.careers.umich.edu 
You must have a faculty recommendation form submitted from a UM-Flint faculty member for each course you wish to tutor. 
A cover letter must be included with your resume. Cover letter and resume must be uploaded as one document. Please be sure to identify which subjects you wish to tutor.

Job Summary

Tutorial Services has limited Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader positions for qualified students in specific subjects and courses for the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 semesters.
SI Leaders attend classes with students, meet with faculty, and prepare for and lead two SI review sessions per week for a total of 6 hours per week for each SI course facilitated.
SI Leaders are required to complete SI training before they begin work and will be expected to complete three hours of continuing training over the course of the semester.
Position open only to current, undergraduate UM-Flint students, or undergraduate students who have attended UM-Flint within the past six months. SI Leaders will also have a Tutor II position for which they will concurrently apply if not already employed as a Tutor II with the Student Success Center.

Modes of Work

Hybrid
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

In addition to your appointment as an SI Leader, you will also be hired as a general Tutor II at a $15 hourly rate. All tutors, regardless of their other tutorial appointments, will be required, upon hire, to attend a general tutor training that will be paid at the $15 hourly Tutor II rate.

Tutor II (Temp)

Tutorial Services has limited peer tutor positions for qualified students in specific subjects and courses.

Overall schedule varies week to week.

Occasional weekends and evenings may be required.

Tutors will need to complete a general tutor training program before they begin working and will be expected to complete four hours of continuing tutorial training over the course of the academic year.

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks will be performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
