Job Summary

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and C. S. Mott Children's Hospital at Michigan Medicine are recruiting for a full-time Pediatric Endocrinology faculty member at the Assistant Research Scientists rank contingent upon qualifications. In this position, the candidate will focus on research investigations understanding the impact of obesity on inflammation responses. This work will focus on animal studies and clinical projects to understand the impact of sex and diet on macrophage activation and metabolism. They must have skills in mouse work, clinical research and be able to engage with research staff and trainees from undergraduate students to post-doctoral students/fellows. 

 

The Pediatric Endocrinology program at Michigan Medicine is a tertiary and quaternary referral center for the state of Michigan and upper midwestern states. Our Pediatric Endocrinology program sees over 1300 diabetic patients and 4,200 endocrine patients on an annual basis.  The patient population translates into approximately 11,000 outpatient visits per year.  The Pediatric Endocrinology program at Michigan Medicine is nationally ranked as one of the top programs by the US News and World Report.  The C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan is ranked #7 in Midwest and #1 in Michigan.

Faculty in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology have the opportunity to collaborate with the newly established Caswell Diabetes Institute (CDI) at the University of Michigan.  The Caswell Diabetes Institute is the University's vision toward harnessing the synergy and strengths of the more than 250 world-renowned faculty in the University with research focuses ranging from diabetes, diabetic complications, obesity, and metabolic disorders.  The CDI partners with 20 divisions and departments within Michigan Medicine and 14 schools and units across the U-M campus that focus on cutting-edge diabetes care and research.  With the support of the CDI, the University of Michigan is well positioned to lead nationally and globally in the prevention, treatment, and eventual cure for diabetes and related disorders.
