University Housing - Human Resources

Responsibilities


 

This position provides assistance with HR systems, processes, policies, procedures, and services for the Housing HR satellite office.

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for all personnel functions related to the appointment of assigned staff including initial hiring, updates, corrections, and terminations. Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of Personnel Action Forms, contracts, I-9's, background checks, and all related employment papers or actions required by the University and/or department. Maintain departmental personnel records for assigned areas.
  • Responsible for recruiting functions for assigned areas, including job posting through job offers; assists external and internal applicants in completing online applications and assisting supervisors with the interview and selection process. Ensures that appointment paperwork is completed successfully and submitted to HR in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates time entry and approvals for assigned areas; responsible for verifying all actives and certifications of payroll for staff; researching and correcting any discrepancies found on the actives and cost center reports.
  • Serve as backup for processing Workers Compensation claims (maintaining contact with Environmental Health & Safety) in the absence of the primary point of contact for Housing Human Resources.

Qualifications


 

Bachelor's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to four years. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and standards of human resource administration in assigned area.
