The Center for Applied Research on Work (CAROW) is a hub for collaborative applied research efforts across the ILR School and the university. CAROW connects research on work with the practice of putting it to use. CAROW provides a platform for new interdisciplinary approaches, innovative methods, and nimble resourcing with the goal of bringing high quality research to bear on the challenges facing today’s labor markets and connecting that research to external stakeholders and policy makers. Utilizing trainings, convenings, and new tool development CAROW advances the work of faculty and institutes conducting translational labor research and brings them together to drive new insights.

The robust survey is designed to illuminate key concerns faced by New Yorkers highlighting areas for policy changes and improvements. The randomized sample has deep potential to isolate areas across geographic, socioeconomic and other demographic lines. The postdoc will work to find new unexplored intersections in the data and look at trends that have changed across the decade of data the poll has collected.

The inaugural CAROW annual report will synthesize the work CAROW has conducted since the launch. The postdoc will assist in determining metrics, and areas of focus and will support the writing of the report.

The postdoc will work with member institutes and affiliated faculty on a variety of ongoing projects, working with institutes such as the Global Labor Institute, the Criminal Justice Employment Initiative, the Institute for Compensation studies, the Climate Jobs Institute, the R. Brinkley Smithers Institute for Alcohol-Related Workplace Studies, and the Labor Dynamics Institute in addition to other institutes and faculty across the university.
