Here’s how you will support our mission 
Are you passionate about shaping the future of project management education?    We are looking for a dynamic and seasoned professional to step into the role of Director of the Project Management Program.  This unique position combines program leadership and teaching, as you'll oversee the strategic and operational aspects of our accredited program while also teaching project management classes.  This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on both the academic and applied sides of project management, directly shaping this and future generations of leaders in this vital field. The Program Director oversees the strategic direction and alignment of the Project Management Program with industry standards and PMI accreditation, ensuring curriculum relevance through regular reviews and revisions. They lead advisory board meetings, manage the program budget, and prepare necessary documentation for curricular and accreditation processes. Additionally, the director evaluates student credits, petitions, and administers admissions, working closely with completion coaches for effective student support. They also represent the program in institutional and external engagements.
 
This position reports to the Dean for Business & Computer Science

The salary range for this position is $71,547-$75,168 for a 176-day contract over the Instructional Year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Additional compensation may be available for assignment of summer quarter courses or courses taught outside of the full-time position during fall, winter and spring quarters. This position is in a hard to fill discipline eligible for additional money per MOU 002 – Hard to Fill Supplemental Pay and would receive an additional stipend of $5,950. This is not a guarantee of compensation and is subject to funding. The director role will receive release time in accordance with the CBA.
 
Relocation expenses are part of the employment offer for the successful candidate if the candidate relocates to the Tri-Cities area from outside of a 175-mile radius.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree in project management, business, engineering, or related STEM discipline from an institutionally accredited college or university;
  • Three (3) years of Industry management and leadership experience;
  • Five (5) years of project management work experience;
  • Two (2) years managing significant projects from initiation through closure;
  • Active Project Management Professional Certification (PMP);
  • Experience with project management and other collaborative workflow software applications, including Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office Software Suite;
  •  Experience creating and delivering project management content in a learning environment; and

Candidates must meet at least two of the following requirements:

  1. Experience or demonstrated commitment to teaching, mentoring, and/or engaging in services to support the success of Hispanic students or other underserved populations.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of challenges faced by Hispanic students and/or faculty or other underserved populations.
  3. Proven ability to address and mitigate the disproportionate impacts faced by Hispanic students or other underserved populations at an educational institution or in the workplace.
  4. Experience or demonstrated commitment to facilitating Hispanic students or other underserved populations navigating a higher education institution.
  5. Experience or demonstrated commitment to integrating elements of culturally relevant and inclusive pedagogy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate in Project Management, Business, Engineering, STEM field, or related field from an institutionally accredited college or university;
  • Experience in academic administration, program development, and curriculum design;
  • Two years of college-level teaching experience, including course creation and delivery, preferably with Canvas LMS and online modalities;
  • Specialized project management experience in fields such as engineering, construction, IT, governmental agencies, agriculture, or healthcare; and
  • Expertise in project planning, Agile management, procurement, quality, risk, earned value management, and scheduling, with a background in leading process improvement efforts.

This is a bargaining unit position represented by the Association for Higher Education (AHE).  Compensation and benefits are subject to the collective bargaining process.
 
There will be paid comprehensive onboarding and training beginning August 1, 2024, but the contract for this position begins on September 1, 2024. This is a tenure track position and will begin the three-year tenure process in fall quarter 2024.  More information about the tenure process can be found in Chapter 28B.50 RCW governing Washington State Community and Technical Colleges.
 
Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Provide proof of lawful permanent residency or other appropriate work authorization as required by the Immigration Reform Control Act of 1986.
  • Disclose any substantiated findings or any ongoing investigations related to sexual misconduct as required by RCW 28B.112.080.
  • Pass a criminal background check. Note: information learned during the criminal background check will not necessarily preclude employment but may be a factor in eligibility for the position.
  • Maintain an alcohol-free and drug-free workplace during employment.
