Mothering Justice, a national non-profit dedicated to empowering Mamavists, community members, and allies, is seeking a visionary Director of Program Development to lead and expand our leadership development efforts across 12 states: MI, WA, CA, FL, NY, TX, PA, MO, VA, MN, OR, and HI. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Programs, this role is instrumental in shaping programs that inspire and equip community leaders, fostering a new generation of advocates committed to social justice.
Through innovative initiatives such as the Mamavist Movement Fellowship, Mamas’ University, and White Women’s School, the Director will design, implement, and evaluate leadership development programs that align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. This position also manages key staff, ensuring a strategic and cohesive approach to leadership development and community engagement. The ideal candidate for the Director of Program Development role is a dynamic leader with a proven track record in designing and managing leadership development programs, particularly in nonprofit or advocacy settings. They are a strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal skills, experienced in supervising diverse teams, and adept at fostering partnerships to amplify program impact. This candidate thrives in a mission-driven environment, demonstrates a deep understanding of social justice principles, and has the vision to create innovative initiatives that empower communities and drive meaningful change.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Education, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
- 7+ years in leadership development, program management, or a related field.
- Proven success designing, implementing, and evaluating training or leadership development programs.
- At least 3 years of staff management experience, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and support team members.
- Experience working with diverse communities and applying intersectional social justice principles.
- Multistate program management experience is a plus.

Through advocacy, leadership development, voter empowerment, and promoting family-friendly advocacy, Mothering Justice raises the voices of mothers and helps them become policy shapers. The overall goal of the organization is to have a well-organized group of mothers that can engage fellow parents, allies and lawmakers around a variety of issues that affect working families that we call the Mamas' Agenda.
